Gypsy, Angel, Sweetie and Buddy all found new homes and families of their own! We know 2012 will be the BEST year yet. Currently at our facility we still have rescues awaiting new homes and families of their very own.

Porche a Black National Show Horse Mare whose papers were sadly lost. She is about 17 years old standing 15hh. A very sweet tempered mare that has been continuing to put on weight with us. She will be evaluated very soon. She's very elegant with her movement, she has the beautiful seahorse neck of the arabian in her breeding. National Show Horses are a cross between Arabian and Saddlebred.

Dreamer a Andalusion cross standing at 15HH advanced beginner approved. She bonds quickly, she's been riddin in the mountains of California as well as the beaches. She is not spooky at all with no buck/bite/rear/kick/ no nonsense. Used to fireworks, carrying the flag, dogs, loud trucks, dirtbikes. She is currently bred to our Dun AQHA stallion. She is PURE white and not fleabitten. She stands for the farrier, bathing, she's good for clippers as well. Her adoption fee is $900.00 she came with us from California.

We offer boarding in the Belle,MO area. It is 20minutes from Rolla located on HWY 28. We also take in horses that owners are unable to keep them. The owners are ALWAYS keep updated. At our facility we have 5 rescues awaiting new homes and families of their own.
Spread the word :) We also got an email for a beautiful palomino stud that will need to be gelded (he only dropped one) he's blind in one eye and free to a good home. He is not at our facility due to us having our own stallion. :)

Awaiting adoptions are!
Gypsy a 15yr b/w paint 15hh beginner friendly $900 adoption fee
Angel a 17yr old grey arabian cross mare (in foal) beginner friendly $700 adoption fee.
Dreamer a andalusion cross. Advanced beginner friendly. 16hh. $900 adoption fee.
Porche a black half arabian mare almost 15hh. Needs to gain a little more weight 50-75 pounds.
Jewel a 30 yr old fox trotter companion or leadline mare. Easy keeper.

Porche and Jewel are free to a good home. Adoption papers will still be signed. As soon as we switch to hay Porche's adoption fee will rise. We are privately funded.

Companion horses are always free to a good home. All horses are UTD on vaccines, worming and farrier.

Buddy and Jewel joined us today, their owner a wonderful lady that wanted them to find good homes.
Buddy was posted on a few search engines last night and I received a call. Terri and her family adopted him today. He's a surprise birthday boy for a little girl.. SHHHH :) He's 20 and well traveled an older roping horse that has been there and done that. Now his new family can enjoy him together. Thanks to Debbi and Terri for giving Buddy a new lease on life! Jewel is still awaiting a home of her own. Her adoption fee is free she is 30 years old and in great shape! She'd be a great companion horse for your lonely horse or for you! She loves to be brushed and bathed. Low maintenance. Recommened to lead children around on and to be a companion. She is a TWH.

See her ad on our website, currently named Angel. Ad to be fixed asap. :) She's a beautiful chestnut.
All companion horses are always free to good home at our rescue!

Update: 1 mare has joined us from IL

Only one mare was surrendered to the wonderful ladies that brought her to us and saved her from starving to death. Katie who we've renamed Porche was nothing but bones wrapped in skin when they took her in and she has put on considerable weight! She looks like a horse again. She will gain about
50-75 pounds to be top notch. She's registered 1/4 arabian but did not come with her papers. We can only hope the home she came from (New horse owners) will take the advice offered by many on the proper care of horses, otherwise the remaining three will suffer the same weightloss and with the coming winter I'm certain death. We will be evaluating Porche over the next few days and listing her available for adoption. I did get the chance to brush her out, (she was pretty sweaty from her long trip) and she loved it. No halter or lead on her she was following me around the round pen after only just brushing her. She paid no attention to the other horses, even my young stallion didn't bother her. She will be kept in one pasture with Angel our arabian. She seems to have a great temperment and she's just beautiful. Pure black with a thin white blaze. She is broke to ride but we'll let her settle in and work with her over the next few days to consider what type of rider she is broke for.

Their helpful owner took them in due to them being neglected, she emailed us an urgent need for help. Their owner only has a limited amount of horses she can keep due to her contract with the city she lives in. These mares are mother and daughter. UTD on shots so far. More info as soon as we evaluate them on Sunday. Both of these mares will be looking for a new home. Email or call about all inquiries. Thanks for reading!

Thank you to everyone for the emails!! I am so glad to be such a small part of helping horse owners find great homes for their horses! Keep up the emails everyone. :) We also take in unwanted horses, they will never go to a sale barn they will be placed if possible. Former owners are always notified of the new owners and kept in the loop. :) Once again thank you to everyone for NOT considering sale barns for your horses and thanks to all the wonderful people who have offered these horses such great homes!

Boarding and Lessons Now Offered!

We have a few stalls available and pasture boarding as well. Our facility includes a round pen, and arena. The arena is currently being worked on so the board is discounted at this time. Military discount is also available!

Stalls are cleaned daily and turned out. $175.00
Pasture water troughs are cleaned every other day. $150.00

These prices will include hay during the winter. Please provide your own grain. As we may use a different blend for our horses. Worming is not included but can be administered by us. A negative coggins will be required to board with us.

We are taking in donations of gently used tack: Halters and lead ropes are constantly needed as well as fly masks.. If you are interested in volunteering please email me the founder at Melissa@CountryGirlHorseRescues.com

Volunteer tasks include but are not limited to: Cleaning stalls, exercising horses, cleaning water buckets, grooming horses. Most important giving the horses lots of TLC. Some or no horse experience is OK. We have a volunteer for riding program. I myself will teach and give new horse people lessons including riding.

Don't Consider Auctions!

Please don't consider auctions! Meat buyers are still out there! We take in all unwanted horses from owners that can not and are no longer able to take care of their horses. People that adopt from us sign contracts that even entitle us to surprise home visits. We check the horse's new facility BEFORE any adoption will go through. Any horse adopted out by us will have their hooves trimmed, vaccines, teeth floated (If needed), and worming! Our facility is always a phone call away if you would like to come out and check it out for yourself! :)

Well we hope to be bringing in our newest rescue who will have a forever home. Her owner is awesome enough to not consider auction. She had eye corrective surgery at a younger age. Particially blind but she will fit in just fine here. We plan to keep her. We've got two great responses on our look for a farrier that will work with us. So we'll see! Hope everyone is having a great week! So if all goes well and her mom likes us and thinks we are the right home for her. We'll be bringing her to her forever home. :)

Hope everyone's farms did ok in the storms!

Dang huge storms! One after the other! Had the wind going pretty good! We had a tree come down near our main barn. Luckily it missed the barn! All of our horses are doing fine. They are sadly pretty used to this kind of weather. We didn't see any of the hail they called for, for this area. :) Thank goodness!!!

The horses are all grazing and munching away in the pastures. All of our girls and even our stallion are doing great!! Little baby Colton Henry Roy Villarreal is now officially two weeks old! He is well over 22 inches now he's going to be a tall boy, great for catching all those touchdown footballs ;-) We may have found a farrier that will work with us on a discount! We will get to meet him soon.

“Just A Horse”

From time to time, people tell me, “lighten up, it’s just a horse,” or “that’s a lot of money for just a horse”.

They don’t understand the distance traveled, the time spent ot the costs involved for just a horse. Some of my proudest moments have come about with just a horse.

Many hours have passed and my only company was just a horse, but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by just a horse, and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of just a horse gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you think it’s “just a horse,” then you will probably understand phrases like “just a friend, “just a sunrise,” or “just a promise.”

Just a horse brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. Just a horse brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of just a horse I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it’s not “just a horse” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

“Just a horse” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it’s not “just a horse” but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a woman.”

Starfish Poem

Once upon a time there was a wise man

who used to go to the ocean

to do his writing.

He had a habit of walking

on the beach

before he began his work.

One day he was walking along

the shore.

As he looked down the beach,

he saw a human

figure moving like a dancer.

He smiled to himself to think

of someone who would

dance to the day.

So he began to walk faster

to catch up.

As he got closer, he saw

that it was a young man

and the young man wasn't dancing,

but instead he was reaching

down to the shore,

picking up something

and very gently throwing it

into the ocean.

As he got closer he called out,

"Good morning! What are you doing?"

The young man paused,

looked up and replied,

"Throwing starfish in the ocean."

"I guess I should have asked,

why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?"

"The sun is up and the tide is going out.

And if I don't throw them in they'll die."

"But, young man, don't you realize that

there are miles and miles of beach

and starfish all along it.

You can't possibly make a difference!"

The young man listened politely.

Then bent down, picked up another starfish

and threw it into the sea,

past the breaking waves and said-

"It made a difference for that one."

Welcome and thanks for stopping by to take a look! To start out with the latest news, our baby boy has finally arrived! Colton, born 6/2/11 at 7 lbs 2 oz. and 22 inches long. :) So far I have only been able to help owners rehome their horses as I was not as able to work with and evaluate horses all that well being a waddling duck! :) That will very soon change. I will always help owners rehome their horses at no charge. I've helped two rehome via the internet and a few via phone. Don't be affraid to contact me via phone or email if you need help rehoming your horse(s), or farm animals. It is always 100% free for my help in advertising for you. Thank you above all for not considering auctions or worse! I hope this blog will help to build a wonderful horse lover network. I know all great things come slowly but surely. I am looking forward to the months and years ahead of us.
